Lineage II Naming Policy
We want Lineage II to be a safe and fun space for everyone. People may disagree about what names are offensive, and a name that is not offensive to you may be very offensive to another player. When creating a Lineage II display, character, clan, or pet name, you are encouraged to select a name that reflects the theme of the game. The guidelines listed below outline the types of names that you may NOT use, and apply to display, character, clan, and pet names.
We do not permit names that:
Impersonating a NC Interactive, LLC or NCSOFT Corporation employee or customer support representative is against the Lineage II User Agreement, so we do not allow characters to take the real name or handles of employees or variations of their names or handles that may cause confusion. In addition, if a name is found to violate a third party's proprietary rights and the rights holder complains about its use, we will not allow the name.
Names restricted by this policy will generally be subject to these restrictions, no matter whether the names are inappropriate in English or in another language.
If a character name is reported to us and is in violation of the guidelines above, for the first offense, you will be required to rename your character upon your next login and your account may be marked and suspended pursuant to Lineage II Conduct Breaches and Outcomes. For the second offense, we will assign you a new name and your account will again be marked and suspended pursuant to Lineage II Conduct Breaches and Outcomes. We may take further action at our discretion.
For issues related to display, clan, or pet names, the Support Team will change the name or will designate the appropriate action to be taken on the part of the player to amend the unacceptable name.
This policy may not cover all inappropriate or disallowed names. NCSOFT reserves the right to reject any name it concludes, in its sole and absolute discretion, is indecent, obscene, offensive, or that otherwise violates our naming policy or the Lineage II User Agreement. NCSOFT reserves the right to examine names on a case-by-case basis and take whatever action we deem necessary in our sole and absolute discretion. We reserve the right, in our sole and absolute discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Lineage II Naming Policy at any time.
Customer Service agents generally will change names only when they violate this policy or our User Agreement. They will not change names upon request.
Please note that purchased name changes must also conform to this Naming Policy, and that any name is subject to review and possible alteration if it is in breach of this policy.
